For half a decade, Colton has worked and volunteered in British Columbia’s backcountry as a mining professional, outdoorsman, and search and rescue team member. He has spent thousands of hours in the field, responding to emergencies and helping keep people safe in some of Canada’s most challenging conditions.
Colton experienced a near miss when a during a SAR deployment, a volunteer's bear spray accidentally discharged. By sheer luck, it missed the pilot of the helicopter picking us up. If that spray had hit the pilot, it would have been a catastrophic, life-threatening aviation emergency. It was a wake-up call - and a problem he knew needed a better solution.
He set out to design a lockout that keeps bear spray secure, visible, and accessible - without compromise. Bear Vice is the result of real experience, real feedback, and a commitment to building gear that backcountry professionals and everyday adventurers can trust.
